GaliGear Kickstarter Campaign has Officially Kicked off!

The GaliGear Kickstarter Campaign is underway

On Monday, October 24th, the GaliGear Development Team launched its Kickstarter campaign.  It’s been a little over a year since the inception of GaliGear and it’s been quite a ride that’s for sure.  

We’d like to, personally, thank everyone who has contributed to GaliGear so far.  On a project as complex as this, every little bit counts, that’s for sure.    

Reaching our Kickstarter goal of $100,000 is certainly going to be difficult.  In fact, it’s possible we may not even get close.  That’s the reality of crowdfunding.  As I browse through more and more projects on Kickstarter, I have begun to realize that most of the projects that are doing well are almost done.  In other words, the projects are getting ready to launch for consumers to purchase.  Kickstarter is a great way for those consumers to pre-order the products and get great rewards at the same time.  I also noticed that a lot of the projects already had a good reputation before going to Kickstarter.  This definitely helps with getting a lot of backers on board early in the campaign.  

GaliGear is different.  It is in the very early stages of development and there is only one fully functional prototype.  Backers need to take a long-term view on the project in hopes that someday it can get seed funding from further investors.  It’s hard to say whether or not the average person will be willing to hand over his or hers hard-earned money on a project that may not materialize.  To help with this, we are offering great rewards for those who back GaliGear.  In fact, about half of the money raised will be used on rewards for our backers.  The other half will be used to make GailGear evaluation units that can be sent out to our target audience for product testing.
